More than 590,000 businesses bank with us. By supporting them, we boost the UK’s economy – helping to create jobs, liquidity and support growth. In 2016, we opened 63,000 accounts for new to bank start-up businesses.
Making our business service simpler and faster
In 2016, we made it even easier for businesses to open accounts with us. They can now open new accounts online and have their account numbers and sort codes within an hour.
We’ve also improved our lending service for business customers. They can now see online exactly how much they can borrow, then apply online.
Getting closer to our customers
This year we’ve started giving free Business Financial Health Checks to help our business customers hit their financial targets. So far, we’ve helped over 1,000 customers.
We’ve also continued to improve our professional standards. 80% of our Relationship Managers and Credit Managers are now professionally qualified with a Certificate in Business Banking Practice.
We now have 73 Business Growth Enablers and over 400 Women in Business specialists across our Business and Private Banking teams.
Supporting small and start-up businesses
In 2016 we launched Boost – a free advice and expertise service for small businesses.
We’re also giving 18 months of free banking to start-up businesses, as well as support from our Business Growth Enablers.
