Family and Child Law Solicitors, which is based in Andover, Hampshire, will cover every aspect of family law, ranging from divorce and matrimonial finances to unmarried couple’s disputes and child protection cases involving social services. The firm will also take on legal aid cases for clients that qualify.
The firm has been started by Justine Snabaitis and Siôn Williams who have more than 20 years of experience in dealing with family cases between them..
Working closely with Dale Sidebottom, Director of Business Banking at RBS, he partners have used a loan from RBS, backed by the Government’s Funding for Lending Scheme, to help with the start-up costs for the set up of their office and to recruit two new support staff.
Snabaitis, who had previously started a firm in Hampshire, specialises in matrimonial finances and is a member of the specialist Law Society advanced panel for domestic violence. Williams is a specialist in dealing with the legal issues arising from children being taken into care, cases concerning children, divorce, and matrimonial finances.
They hope to establish the business within the first year and to double the firm’s turnover in the second year of trading. In addition to family law, they intend to take on more staff in the future to allow them to expand into other legal areas, and their aspiration is to become a respected firm throughout the south of England.
Williams said: “Dale at RBS was able to talk us through everything we needed regarding capital expenditure. Thanks to him, we’re well placed to get started and concentrate on getting new clients, and provide a quality to service to them.
“It’s been daunting but exciting and if there’s anyone else out there thinking about going it alone, we’d recommend being brave and doing it. Times are tough, but RBS have given us the confidence to go ahead with our venture.”
Sidebottom added: “It’s great to have been able to help Family and Child Law Solicitors with the set up of their business. Andover was lacking in a quality legal aid firm for anyone who needed help with family matters but the establishment of an office here means that they are well-placed for working with the courts in Basingstoke, Salisbury, Winchester, Portsmouth and Southampton.”
