Just over two months in, almost 278,000 have benefited from 1% Cashback Plus rewards from spending at Tesco. Current account customers can continue to earn rewards on their Tesco shopping until June 2014.

More that 94% of customers have also been offered much higher reward rates, including up to 25% from Caffe Nero and up to 10% in Cineworld until further notice.

Allan Hardie, RBS and NatWest's Head of Current Accounts, said: "We’re delighted to be extending one of the key attractive offers on our scheme for an additional seven months. Customers are really benefiting from their weekly shop and we want them to continue to do so.

“We’ve seen a positive uplift in current account openings in the last month. This and the interest we’re seeing in the Cashback Plus scheme demonstrates the value that new and existing customers are finding in having their current account with us.”

RBS and NatWest new and existing current account customers with a VISA debit card can register online for Cashback Plus. Customers don't need to login to an online account to take advantage of earnings and they don't need to register for each offer.

The new Current Account Switch Service enables customers to switch their current account provider in just seven working days, allowing them to switch with confidence to better value offers.
