May’s improvement in the global PMI proved to be fleeting. June’s global composite PMI, covering both manufacturing and services, fell from 52.9 to 51.4, the lowest reading in a year.

All in all it was a lacklustre Q2. Will the second half of the year see an improvement? It will be difficult. Many of the issues that caused the weak Q2 remain in place. On top of that there are a number of additional challenges.
