England internationalists James Haskell (nearest) and Tom Varndell lending a hand at the club on Saturday.

Fabs Maffi, Chairman of Weybridge Vandals R.F.C. was delighted with the event. He writes:

"From our perspective, it was a fantastic experience, and the place has been buzzing ever since. As a board, we are unanimous that this will become an annual event for the club.

"We had in more than 100 volunteers over the two days, from all sections of the club as well as from NatWest (including the local branch manager and his neighbours!) and the RFU. This exceeded my expectations and by the end of Saturday we'd achieved most of the tasks planned for the entire weekend!

"Everyone pulled together and there was a real sense of pride in the club. Visitors and members that missed the weekend but have since visited the club have all commented how much the place has been lifted. This is a huge benefit to us especially as we are increasingly letting the club out for external functions.

"Our club treasurer worked out that had we paid for the time the volunteers has given us, we'd be looking at a cost well over £10,000. Not a bad return for a £470 bar tab and £100 on burgers!"
