Thousands of people, including club members and those from the wider community, will be digging out paintbrushes, donning overalls and getting their toolboxes out to help spruce up their local clubhouse and grounds ahead of the new season. All are welcome, whether they can dedicate the whole weekend to RugbyForce or just an hour.

Clubs will be making a range of improvements, such as refurbishing toilets and showers, painting changing rooms or creating a brand new club entrance.

Stuart Lancaster, England Head Coach and supporter of NatWest RugbyForce said: “It is going to be a fantastic weekend with clubs united up and down the country in their DIY efforts. Best of luck to all clubs taking part.”

A further 150 clubs in Scotland will be taking part in RBS RugbyForce on 10 and 11 August.

Since RugbyForce began in 2009, the initiative has helped more than 1,000 clubs at the grassroots of the game by providing them with financial support, online guidance and tools to help coordinate a community-wide effort to give their facilities a facelift.

Many of the clubs participating this weekend have received renovation grants towards their projects and have taken part in business workshops.

Llandeilo RFC has been awarded the top grant of £5,250 to upgrade two changing rooms for their juniors during the RugbyForce weekend, and Wales fly half Rhys Priestland will be rolling up his sleeves to help out at the club during the weekend.

The club hopes that by improving drainage in the shower and toilet area, and by tiling, painting and decorating the changing area, it will be in a better position to attract junior members to the club.

Other clubs have won grants for a wide variety of projects including repairing water damage and painting fencing around the pitches.

Chris Long, Sponsorship Manager for NatWest Retail Bank, said: “We would urge everyone to get in touch with their local club to see how you can join in and help out with the NatWest RugbyForce Weekend over 15 and 16 June. The local rugby clubs need your support.”
