Bruce Fletcher is Group Chief Risk Officer at RBS, a role he has held since October 2018. He is a member of the Group Executive Committee, and attends and chairs a number of the Group’s governance fora. Bruce is responsible for leading the Risk function for the RBS Group, defining and overseeing the risk, conduct, compliance and financial crime strategies for the Group, and encompassing policy, governance, frameworks, analysis and insights.

Over a 35 year career Bruce has worked for global full service banks in the UK and USA, including HSBC, Citibank, and Irving Trust. Before joining RBS he was a Group General Manager at HSBC, where he served as the Chief Risk Officer for the Global Retail Banking and Wealth Management Business; he previously served as their Chief Risk Officer for Europe and the UK. Before joining HSBC in 2005, he spent 17 years at Citibank, where he served as a Senior Credit Officer and Managing Director in the Group Risk Office in New York, overseeing a global suite of loan portfolios.
