£250,000 of Funding Available to Enterprise Support Organisations - RBS Inspiring Women in Enterprise

Do you know of UK-based enterprise support organisations with ideas, programmes or projects that will help female entrepreneurs? Then perhaps RBS can help.

The Inspiring Women in Enterprise grant funding programme is now open for applications.  The programme is part of a £3m commitment to provide additional funding for not-for-profit organisations to support more people into enterprise.

In this round, £250,000 of funding is available with a funding pot up to £50,000. These will be awarded to organisations who demonstrate that they can run programmes helping more women gain the skills, tools and confidence they need to start out on their enterprise journey.

We are looking to support programmes that will help women learn about, or start-up in business. This could be through delivering enterprise education, innovative networking events, key skills development work or by enhancing entrepreneurial knowledge. Or perhaps you have ideas of your own and have been looking for funding?

Applying for a grant is easy, and can be done at the RBS Inspiring Enterprise website. The application window is open from today, Monday 6th October, and closes at noon on Friday 17th October.

Thom Kenrick, Head of Community Programmes, RBS said: “We’re thrilled with the success of the RBS Inspiring Enterprise grant funding programme which has so far supported nearly 5,000 women on their enterprise journey. We’re now looking forward to funding more organisations through this funding round, helping more people, in more communities, to explore enterprise, build new skills and ultimately start up and succeed in business.”

One organisation who was successfully funded in the previous funding round was Works for Us for their Business for You project.

This project aims to help women explore the idea of running their own businesses, but also includes a commitment to provide useable business space for five days a week. A vital part of the support offered is also to reduce the isolation that can be felt by sole traders, through mutual encouragement and support. Business for You plans to reach 120 women.

Niz Smith, from Works for Us said: “We are delighted that the RBS Inspiring Women in Enterprise funding will allow this project to provide a complete service for women who are considering setting up enterprises. It will enable us to equip them with the practical skills and knowledge they need, whilst reducing the isolation that can cause enterprises to fail.”
