Financial support from Natwest helps business create world's fastest street-legal car.

Street-legal drag car Red Victor 3 set a new world street legal ¼ mile record during the 2012 Main Event at Santa Pod last month.

The 3,000bhp car, created by Wolverhampton businesses Red Victor 1 racing ltd and Penn Autos, set a record of 6.59 at 220mph.

As an off shoot of the business, Managing Director Andy Frost had the ambition to build the fastest street legal car in the world. His first attempt came in the shape of Red Victor 2 which achieved 153 mph in 4.8 seconds and reached 200mph. At the time, it was the fastest street legal car in the world for two years.

After losing the record, Andy developed Red Victor 3 - a much modified 1972 Vauxhall Victor FD Street Legal Pro modified Car which has 8.8-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. After two years of development the car proudly brought the world’s fastest street legal car crown back to Wolverhampton, after achieving the 6.59 elapsed time at Santa Pod on 4th of June.

Andy and the business needed some financial support from NatWest Business Banking in Wolverhampton – a long term supporter of the business.  He said, "Having the right vehicle was one thing, but having the right backing to make this a reality was something else. We have great sponsors in the shape of VXR, Hoosier tyres, Topspeed Automotive, Owen Developments, Red Line oils, Magnecor, Zircotec coatings and Radtec radiators, but we also needed help from our bank. I approached Simon Caunt at NatWest at the start of this project as he has always been a great supporter of the business, and he came through for us. Thanks to our sponsors and NatWest, we’ve brought the world’s fastest street legal car crown back to Wolverhampton"

When Andy approached me in 2010 and told me about his plans for Red Victor 3, I was delighted to pull together a financial package to ensure the car could take shape as quickly as possible. Now that Red Victor 3 has set a world record, it makes you proud to have supported the project.“
