Press Release
NatWest brings a total transformation to Ashford's High Street
26th January 2012
Customers visiting NatWest's Ashford branch have become the first to officially try out its new look and service aimed at giving visitors a totally new and enhanced banking experience.
As part of the bank's helpful banking commitment, and in support of the town centre regeneration plans, the branch has undergone a total transformation aimed at providing visitors with many new facilities including a more open and relaxed banking hall and more privacy for customer interactions.
To mark the occasion, Dave Church, Chairman of the Ashford Town Centre Partnership, was on hand to cut the ribbon to officially re-launch the branch, and as a thank you to customers for their patience whilst the building work was in progress, NatWest customer - chef Gavin Young -spent the day giving cooking demonstrations. The branch team also arranged refreshments and nibbles along with goodie bags for the children, whilst a charity raffle with prizes donated by local businesses, raised money for Pilgrims Hospices - which is the branch team's chosen charity for 2012.
Among the new features being unveiled were twelve new private interview rooms, a new waiting area, state-of-the-art cash machines - which allow people to pay in cash and cheques and pay bills, as well as withdrawing cash - and a brand new 'select a service' system. The latter means that visitors are now invited to select the service they require when they enter the branch. They are then either directed immediately to the right service/member of staff or asked to sit and relax in the waiting area in the knowledge that they will be called in order when the required member of staff becomes available.
Commenting on the new look branch, Lisa Lott, NatWest's local CEO for Ashford, said: "We are all really excited about the changes to the branch which offer our customers a totally new banking experience. It's important that our branches reflect our Customer Charter commitment to be the UK's most Helpful and Sustainable bank and we hope our customers value and like the changes we have made. We delighted to have been able to do this in addition to extending the opening hours at the branch, which now sees us opening until 6pm Monday to Friday and from 9am to 4pm on a Saturday."
Bruce Topham, Manager of NatWest's Ashford branch, continued: "The branch is unrecognisable to what it was before and with its state of the art service and facilities we hope it helps send out a really positive message on Ashford's High Street. We would like to thank our customers for their patience and support whilst we've been putting these changes in place and we'd be delighted to welcome anyone who would like to visit us to see what our new look NatWest can offer them."
