Climate change has rightly swept to the top of the political, business and consumer agenda in recent years. Our stakeholders are unanimous in their view that this is an issue that no business can afford to ignore.
We recognise the significant global threat posed by climate change and we are committed to taking an active role in supporting the transition to a low carbon economy. We want to play our part in efforts to lessen the severity of climate change as well as helping our customers to realise the opportunities that this new era of development is bringing.
We took an important step in managing our impact in 2007 by setting up a specially appointed Group Environmental Board to oversee all our environmental activity. These activities are underpinned by the Group-wide environmental policy, which provides an overall steer across the Group.
These pages set out what we are doing to reduce our own environmental impacts, and those of our employees and customers. To read more about how we manage the impacts of our global investments, visit the Global Lending and Project Finance section.
