We entered the Italian insurance market following the acquisition of Allstate’s European motor insurance business in 2001. In 2002, we acquired Royal Insurance, Royal & Sun Alliance’s direct motor insurance operation in Italy. Assicurazioni Direct Line currently operates in motor insurance via both direct and partnership channels. Global Banking & Markets has offices in Milan and Rome and provides equities, corporate finance and advice, emerging markets and transaction banking services corporate and institutional clients.
