We entered the Italian insurance market following the acquisition of Allstate’s European motor insurance business in 2001. In 2002, we acquired Royal Insurance, Royal & Sun Alliance’s direct motor insurance operation in Italy. Assicurazioni Direct Line currently operates in motor insurance via both direct and partnership channels. Our Corporate and Institutional business has offices in Milan and Rome and provides equities, corporate finance and advice, emerging markets and transaction banking services corporate and institutional clients.
