Board diversity statement

RBS is supportive of the recommendations of Lord Davies' Report (PDF 1.9MB) and recognises the importance of women having greater representation at key decision making points in organisations, particularly in the banking industry.

The diversity agenda remains a key priority for RBS. We are committed to supporting women to reach their full potential through a combination of leadership development programmes and supportive policies and networks, and will report progress annually. Our global Focused Women’s Network now has around 5,000 members and is strongly supported by RBS's senior team.

The Group Board operates a formal boardroom diversity policy which aims to promote diversity in the composition of the Board. Under this policy, all Board appointments will be made on the basis of individual competence, skills and expertise measured against identified objective criteria and we already meet the target of 25 per cent female board representation.
